The people of the village led a socio agro economic interdependent life. The
ancestors of our pioneer the karuppa nadir were also one among the people of that
village.
Karuppa nadars ancestors had agro based business and labor economic. They maintained
palm grooves . They earned living in the dealing of products and by-products of
palm trees. They worshiped the Arun Junai Katha Ayyanar as their family deity.
They also administrated the affairs of the temple. Once Mr. Karuppanadar was the
trustee of the temple till the near past. The ancestors of Karuppa Nadars might
be the heirs of the Ayyanar.
The pioneer of the Virudhanagar Karuppa Nadar clan led a happy and a straight
life with his parents in the middle of 18th century at Ammanpuram. He had a strong
physique, hale and healthy look, balanced view in the day to day life affairs,
strong mental stamina, judicial approach to problems, parings equanimous inter
personal relationship with all strata of people, high discretional power, nondiscriminating
nature and so on. He was god fearing and at the same time a logical and analytical
person. Where ever he saw injustice he would set the thing right using high mental
and physical stamina.
As per the old saying in tamil, "Uiyar Kappan Thozhan", i.e. a
friend in need is a friend indeed. The karuppa nadar had a country hair
stylist as his dear most friend. Both friends worked together for the welfare
of the self and for the public. This type of discretional, uncompromising , non
caring behaviour of karuppa nadar asked his father as usual, since every parent
will expect their child should be more self centred and unconditional obedient
in nature. But Karuppa Nadar didn't bother, about this type of conventional
sentiments. Whenever a friction erupted between father and son then and there
the mother of karuppa nadar acted as a buffer by lubricating the relation then
and there among them. But he was on his path of delivering justice whenever and
where ever he found injustice.
But the time is ever changing in the course of executing justice, as a routine,
once, karuppa nadar met with awkward interpersonal calamity which gave way to uncontrolable and non lubricable friction. between him and his father . all efforts to subjugate
the friction by his mother ended in vain so to save his son from the wrath of
his father and from the fellow men of the village she asked his son to run away
from the village with sacred pidiman of the arunjunai katha ayyanar kovil. She
directed him to settle down where a sacred kite gave symbolic round and to lead
a peacefull and prosperous life. She also aked him to worship the pidiman as his
family deity at the place where he settles.
